【Details】

Beginners do not need to worry, as the trained staff can offer advice in choosing shapes, sizes, and glaze colors for your work as well as guidance in using the potter's wheel. Staff will also take pictures of the experience for you to keep and share after you are done.

In the end, the craftsmen carefully finish up your work by hand to prepare for firing. "Kiyomizu-yaki," the traditional craft of pottery-making for which Kyoto is famous, is known for its high quality and excellent design. The process of firing the pottery is essential to maintaining this quality, so it takes one and a half to two months for your work to be delivered to you. 【Fun Facts】

”Kiyomizuzaki," or Kiyomizu-ware, is a type of traditional Japanese pottery that originates from Kyoto. It is called this because the pottery was made in the Kiyomizu slope area near Kiyomizu Temple. When tea ceremonies became more popular in the 16th century, various Kiyomizu-ware tea utensils were made in the Edo period (1603-1868). These works were greatly admired by the nobility and the samurai living in the capital. Kiyomizu-ware is said to be very valuable because it is completely handmade.

【Nearby area introduction】

Kiyomizu Temple, famous for being a World Heritage Site is also famous for its sunset. A long time ago, it seems that training was held here to reach paradise, while keeping the round shape of the sun in mind. At dusk, the west gate and the three storied pagoda will light up in orange colors and  you can look around the cityscape of Kyoto and the beautiful sunset setting beyond the mountain ridge. The figures of people in the popular spot Kiyomizu temple are sparse in the evening. After experiencing the ceramics of Kiyomizu ware, why not look at the spectacular sunset at Kiyomizu Temple?
